Hutchison Sells Panama Canal to US-led Coalition

Hutchison Company in Hong Kong announced its agreement to sell the port in Panama and other ports to the United States, following strong pressure exerted by U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to Hutchison's statement, this decision was made after the United States exerted significant pressure on the company, demanding the sale of the port in Panama and other assets. A similar development occurred after the Trump administration imposed a ban on investments for new deals between American and foreign companies managing critical infrastructure.

"We are deeply saddened that we had to agree to this, but we were compelled to act with consideration of the national interests of the United States," said the company representative.

The port in Panama, which was one of Hutchison's assets, is strategically located and is an important element in the global network of ports connecting Asia and the Western Hemisphere.
